We are the National Lawers Guild

We defend the rights of people, communities, and organizations, by valuing human rights over property interests.

What is the National Lawyers Guild? We are the oldest and largest progressive bar association and the first in the America to be racially integrated.

The Goal

Our mission is to use law as an instrument for the people. We unite lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers to serve people first by valuing human rights over property interests. The NLG is dedicated to the need for change in the structure of our political and economic system.

01

Strive for Equality

We seek to extend the rights of workers, women, LGBTQ people, farmers, people with disabilities and people of color.

02

Protect Our Civil Rights

We aim to maintain and protect our civil rights and liberties in the face of persistent attacks upon them.

03

Use the Law for the People

We believe in using law as an instrument for the protection of people, rather than as a tool for their repression.
